Snapchat Planets Order: What Each Planet Means
By the View Snapchat Stories team · · 1 min read
The Friend Solar System is a Snapchat+ feature. On a friend’s profile it shows a planet for where you rank among that friend’s 8 Best Friends, based on how much you snap and chat with each other.
The order
| Position | Planet | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mercury | You’re their closest friend on Snapchat |
| 2 | Venus | Second closest |
| 3 | Earth | Third |
| 4 | Mars | Fourth |
| 5 | Jupiter | Fifth |
| 6 | Saturn | Sixth |
| 7 | Uranus | Seventh |
| 8 | Neptune | Eighth |
It’s the order of the planets from the Sun. If you’re not in their top 8, you don’t get a planet.
What decides your position
Snapchat doesn’t publish it, but it follows how often you interact: Snaps and chats in both directions, over roughly the last few weeks. Positions change as habits change, so Mercury today can be Mars next month.
Turn it off
Snapchat+ subscribers can hide the Friend Solar System in Settings → Snapchat+. Friends without Snapchat+ never see it.
Don’t read too much into it
A planet reflects messaging habits, not how much someone likes you. Someone who mostly calls or meets you in person may never put you near Mercury.
