How to See Who Viewed Your Snapchat Story
By the View Snapchat Stories team · · 1 min read
Snapchat keeps a list of who watched each Snap in your Story, for as long as that Snap is live.
Open your viewer list
- Tap your profile picture (top left).
- Under My Stories, tap your Story to open the list of Snaps in it.
- Each Snap shows an eye icon 👁 with a number. Tap it (or swipe up while watching your own Snap) to see the names.
What the list shows
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 👁 number | How many people opened that Snap |
| Names | Friends (and some other logged-in users) who watched |
| Two crossed arrows | That person took a screenshot |
| “+ others” | Viewers you can’t see by name, usually on public Stories |
Why some viewers have no name
On a public Story, Snapchat shows names for friends but counts many other viewers only as a number. People watching your public Story without logging in at all (on the web, or through a site like ours) have no account, so there’s no name to show. That’s also why anonymous Story viewers work: there is nobody logged in to list.
How long the list lasts
The viewer list for a Snap disappears when the Snap expires from your Story, usually after 24 hours. If you saved the Story to a Highlight, the Highlight doesn’t have a viewer list.
For creators: Story Insights
With a Public Profile you get Insights on your profile: views, how many people watched to the end, and audience age and location. Use it to see which Snaps lose viewers.
Common questions
Does watching a Story twice show twice? No, each person counts once per Snap. Can I hide that I viewed someone’s Story? Inside the app, no. Outside the app, viewing a public Story without logging in doesn’t add a name.
